08 30 2010 and 08 31 2010 Building Takes Time

Welcome to week 3 of Lizzy’s Hep B detox. Lizzy’s behavior has been very mixed at this point. She has been pushing on her lower abdomen again and screaming quite a bit. Sometimes she is throwing a fit. Other times it is not clear what she needs.

For example, while getting ready to take a bath she asks Todd “So what are we doing Daddy?” That was a first.  Slowly we are building an efficient healthy recovery.

It shows me that we are getting some movement from this round. Though it is very difficult, I feel that we are on the right track. It is all a matter of time and patience.

Lizzy and Willy 08 30 2010

We are building her recovery one piece at a time. We need to see what block was just put in place in order to know which one will be next.  This process takes time and patience. Lately I feel like I have neither.

So we need to be strong like Lizzy and do our best. The photo shown below shows all of us what we need to do. Keep going, use our muscles and get it done.

I love these photos because they show Lizzy playing like a little girl could. She is using imaginative play and joining in with others. Very cool!

Lizzy 08 30 2010

Today on 08 31 2010 she has been screaming quite a bit to get her way.  Lizzy is also exhibiting noise sensitivity and seems to be easily agitated. Hopefully tomorrow she will be more like her old self and ready for her next round of Hep B on Thursday. (09 02 2010)

On a happy note Lizzy will begin her music therapy on Thursday Sept. 09 2010. This seems like a good fit for her and will hopefully open some new doors. She will be having her therapy once a week until further notice. We pray that this therapy will help her and tap in to another side of our precious little girl.

With God’s help she will have a good night and be able to have a restful sleep.

Sweet dreams to all.

08 26 2010 thru 08 29 2010 Goldilock’s Rocky Road

Well the last three days have been horrible. This Hep B clearing has been very difficult. It has been 3 days of screaming and not communicating. Even adding the Cuprum on Saturday  (28th) helped some but not much.

Screaming, screaming, screaming.  This part of it wears me out. Her behavior is one of complete discontent. It was the same after she had her shots when she was a baby. Difficult, whinny and just not happy.

Todd being home all weekend did not help either. She was not interested half the time. We tried playing outside and all kinds of different things. Complete “Goldilocks Syndrome”!

Tomorrow Monday 08/30/2010 we will start the hep b round 3 detox. This week it will be 1M. Hopefully, it will clear out even more so she can get back to being more like herself again. I am really surprised to see her reacting to the 200C dose. I did not expect that at all.

Here we go again down a rocky road. Hopefully it will change soon and we will see more positive changes in the weeks to come.

With all of our experience with these clearings it is never easy.

May God grant us strength and perseverance.

08 25 2010 A “Wheely” Fun Day

Lizzy and Katie 08 25 2010

Good Day Everyone!

Lizzy slept well last night and woke up in a good mood. Have had bouts of screaming off and on today. After correcting her she stopped and communicated what she wanted.

Katie and Lizzy had a great time playing outside today. As you can see it was wheely fun. I remember doing this as a kid. I loved it.

I pretended that the wheel was a steering wheel and I was driving. Wonder what these two little ladies were thinking about?

Lizzy and Katie 08 25 2010

It is amazing what an influence Lizzy has on Katie. Katie has even tried screaming to get things. For example any drink with a straw is labeled “Tea”. So she will scream “TEAAAAA!” We have not been allowing her to get away with it but she still tries.

These two little ladies get along pretty well. Katie has a real gift for language. I feel that this gift will help Lizzy very much.  It is wonderful to see them playing together.

Lizzy and Katie 08 25 2010

As of 8pm all is well. After a full day and full bellies it is time to hit the sack.

Tomorrow Lizzy will have round 2 of her Hep B 200C. Hopefully, we will have a wheely good night.

08 24 2010 Full Moon Dip

Well Lizzy was up at 6am and called out twice. I did not rush in there like I normally would. Instead I waited. Suddenly I hear.

“Amelia will you help with the DVD?”

Upon me entering her room she asks, “You help with the DVD?”

“Sure no problem I will be right back.” As my heart smiles I answer her request without hearing any screaming or protesting. She waited patiently until I returned.

Lizzy fell back to sleep and woke up at 10am.  Mood good and very content. (She received her second round of Hep B 2ooc yesterday.) I have noticed a lot of change with this round. She is more like herself. (What I believe her true self to be at this point)

Lizzy 08 24 2010

Some parents have an ability to know their children like no one else. Some tell me that I am one of these people. My sister Cynthia has the same ability.

We are able to read them like no one else can. We know when they are not feeling well or have something that is not quite right within them.  God knew I would need this ability with our Lizzy and our other kids. They are all so different. I think all parents have this to some degree. One just needs to listen to their own feelings. Plus, observe, listen  and communicate openly with their kids.

Lizzy is slowly allowing us in and also allowing Lizzy to come out.  This is what we have been waiting for. Praise God! As one can see in the photos today her whole being is positive.

Even Matthew throwing a fit did not bother her today. No complaints at all.

Lizzy has a real fondness for The Simpsons. Not any episode. Just the first season. I’m with her. Personally,  I think Homer was more endearing and not as selfish. The dialogue is much cleaner in the first season also so I do not mind her watching it.

08 24 2010

Lizzy has had a mini marathon today. She loves to quote lines from her favorite episodes and play with her Simpson dolls. She lines them up on the couch just like the intro. It is great to see her playing and enjoying herself.

As of 4pm she has starting screaming again. It has been approximately 20 hours since she received the Hep B. Might have to give her some charcoal to help with the aggravation. Let’s see what happens.

Will be flying solo tonight. Todd has a deadline that can not wait. Let’s pray that she and the other kids are cooperative.

Howard and Amy photo taken by Gabriel

Katie photo taken by Gabriel

Howard and Katie kept waking up last night. Now I know what it feels like to have twins. I had one in each arm. Eventually Katie got to sleep with Todd’s help and Howard was cat napping for 3 and 1/2 hours. Finally he feel to sleep and we both took a 3 hour snooze.

Lizzy’s evening was not good as her morning. Gave her some charcoal tablets to help with the aggravation but it did not work. These capsules help her break it down quicker but not this time. She was still screaming and not communicating.

At 10pm we gave her a dilution of the Hep B 200C remedy and she is finally asleep at 11pm. That’s how it goes. Without these minor setbacks we would not have movement and elimination. So we are on the right track. Plus the aggravation shows that there are things that still need to be eliminated. Good call Dori Vallis ND!

With God’s help we will all have a pleasant night and a better tomorrow. We would really enjoy that a lot.

Sweet Dreams To All

08 17 2010 and 8 18 2010

Ian, lizzy and Martin 2004

Good Morning Lizzy!

Lizzy has been doing very well and sleeping for long stretches without any interruptions. Her appetite is good and her mood is very content.

Today we will be working on her reading and also potty training. We had to delay it due to Amy not being at full capacity. So today we will give it a try.

Our biggest challenge at this point is getting everyone in the house to stay on the same page with Lizzy. Some of us have been too indulgent or lax and now we need to kick in and stay on track. This has affected Matthew the most. We have been over indulgent with him because we wanted to keep Lizzy from getting upset. (His crying is very bothersome to her.)

Now that she is in a better place we can kick it in with both of them. Honestly, Matthew is very spoiled. As I stated before the whole household has been affected. Anyone who thinks differently needs to look at it again.

The fact that we do not go out as an entire family anymore is something I really miss. One never knows when her mood will change or some thing may upset her. We tend to go in smaller groups. It is easier to manage if she has a meltdown. Our goal is to change this. But until that time here we are.

Some parents of autistic kids will just let them have a meltdown in a public place and everyone there is supposed to understand and endure it. We do not agree.  We would not allow our other kids to disturb others in a public place why should Elizabeth be any different. We think it is just poor manners on the parents part. Of course, there are times when you can not avoid the fits. Just resolve it as quickly as possible. Ignoring it does not help anyone, especially the child.

Back to the Hep B cleansing.

Lizzy did have an exteriorzation on her left thigh. Very encouraging. The exteriorzations are moving further down and eventually will go out through the feet. If you remember last time it was on her left arm. She is not uncomfortable, they do not bother her too much. She has scratched them a bit but that is it.

The day has gone very well and hopefully we will all have pleasant dreams.

Good Night to all!

08 16 2010

Lizzy had a good night and was in a very alert state. She started her Hep B round 2 and all went well. As the evening approached, she became hyper.

Dr. Dori Vallis ND advised me to give her 2 charcoal tabs to help ease the aggravation. Success!!!!

Now a little back story

I am 7 days postpartum and incredibly weak and tired. Lots of blood loss after Howard’s birth, headache and now a bad case of piles. So to say the least I felt like %$#@ today.

Lizzy noticed that I was down for the count and asked Martin, “Is mom alright?”

Can you believe it? All of my pain and suffering today was worth it. If it wasn’t for me feeling badly she never would have said it.  Out of disaster comes opportunity.

Lizzy and Amy spinning jacks

Lizzy is very interested in jacks these days. So we are running with it. I made up some sentence strips reading The yellow jack is spinning. I made others with a different color. The object of the game is she has to chose which strip goes with the jack that is spinning at that moment. She had a blast!!!!!!! Now she can read a complete sentence. The visual aids help her tremendously!

Amelia took Lizzy to the park and she had a great time! The look in her eye is wonderful! Another level of communicating has emerged. We are very encouraged by it.

Clarity of speech, eye contact, social interactions all things we are hoping to see. Thank God!

Lizzy 08 06 2010

The evening progressed and she went to sleep at 10 pm without any problems.

I pray that our baby girl will continue to heal and enjoy tomorrow.

Sweet Dreams

08 15 2010

Applause applause!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lizzy slept 12 hours straight last night with only out cry!!!! We did not go in to her room when she cried out.  She went right back to sleep. That Cuprum agrees with her.

Only one day left and we begin Hep B clearing round 2. Her mood and affection is absolutely amazing after she receives Cuprum. God willing it will be a fairly easy 4 week session with the Hep B.

We have implemented a new program today. We are going to be changing how we do everything with Lizzy.

We will be challenging her more and demanding more from her on every level. From food, play, activities, chores etc.

We feel that she is now in a place where we can get some very fruitful results. The potty training will also be started on Monday 08 16 2010. Being more aware of her body is the important thing for us. Lizzy does not like to have a messy pull up so let’s run with it.

Even though she has special needs at this point, she is a major influence on Matthew and Katie. So off we go down potty training lane. This route is rocky and full of land mines but we are going to do it!!!!    Perseverance.

Little Katie pictured above is ready to go too. Potty training this way will hopefully be easier because they will be doing it together. They seem to really hit it off. Of course, they are siblings. If you recall they have their difficult moments too.

As of 420pm Lizzy has been pretty good. Little bouts of screaming but for the most part good.

I purchased one box of Kelloggs Corn Flakes for Ian. Normally I do not purchase them anymore but Ian said he loved them so I picked up a box just for him. With only the ingredients/nutritional values showing and Corn Flakes at the top she asked for cereal. I handed her the Gorilla Munch cereal which is organic.

“No, corn cereal”. Very Cool she read the word corn and plugged it in to communicate. YES!! She also used sign language for corn and cereal. YES YES!!

Cuprum rocks for her right now. What a change! Before the Cuprum yesterday she was being a brat. “Mine!” Yikes. Within 10 minutes of receiving the Cuprum she was a totally different little girl.

I smiled at her and said hi. She looked at me and smiled. It was one of the smiles that we give while passing someone in a hallway that we are not expecting to interact with. She responded to another persons emotions.

Some may think that is nothing, but to me it is huge. I can see her changing and for the better. This is why I like homeopathy. It goes in and works on a very deep level to eliminate conditions that otherwise would just be managed with prescriptions or supplements. Don’t get me wrong, these approaches have success.  But homeopathy suits Lizzy better. My biggest concern is that I do not want all of her hard work to be undone as soon as she hits puberty. That changes everything for any kid.

Our family physician has a teenage autistic daughter who after turning 13 had a seizure after not having one for many years. Hormones change it all over again.

I have seen this with my own kids.  Todd and I also have benefitted from homeopathy. (Male menopause and hormonal issues for me) It eases the difficulty and get one’s body back on track. If one start’s early with their kids, puberty passes very easily without any major difficulties.

For the rest of the night Lizzy was pretty good. A little hyper this evening. Gave her one capsule of charcoal in her Naked Juice and she calmed down.

She feel to sleep at 1030pm. Hopefully it will be a good night for all.

08 08 2010 to 08 13 2010

Hello Everyone! We are back and trying to catch up and get organized. We have postponed the Hep B clearing until Monday 08- 16- 2010.

Lizzy's Baby Brother Howard

Lizzy’s baby brother arrived on 08 08 2010.  With me in the hospital for two days, we thought it best to wait.

Lizzy 08 13 2010

Lizzy has been waking up again at night and screaming for Todd to go in to her room. Her behavior has been pretty good during the day until yesterday. Lots of screaming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course we have lots of adjusting to do, but this is the same behavior exhibited last time we dipped after receiving Cuprum.

Lizzy’s appetite has been good and she is starting to get into dancing again!

Lizzy dancing

Lizzy can see her reflection in the glass doors of the fireplace. It is very cute!! Need to find a dance class for her. How easy is this? Do not know.

But, last Monday Lizzy did meet with her future music teacher. What an awesome fit! I was not present but according to the reports given by Amelia and Todd Lizzy connected with her. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“When the student is ready the master will appear”.

I have been hoping and praying for someone like this for quite a while. She has a beautiful voice and gives her boundaries. YES!!

All we have to do is part the red sea of insurance paperwork and we are off and running. Within 30 days we should be up and singing.

Tomorrow Lizzy will receive her Cuprum again. Hopefully, we see some other changes. This way we know exactly what we are dealing with.

Due to the fact that we have been behind in our posts, I will be updating today as info. presents itself. So I’ll be back……………………

Lizzy pretending to fall 08 13 2010

Well here is Lizzy PRETENDING to fall down. “Are you alright”, is what she says. Pretending, how cool is that? She has been very happy today and going outside was on the list.

As of 130pm all is well. Our little Lizzy is slowly emerging.  She is playing differently and exhibiting a desire to be treated differently.

For example she prefers to sit in a regular chair as opposed to a high chair. Before this wooden chair gave her a sense of comfort and boundaries for her body. She no longer requires this. Her sensory issues have changed so much. Some are gone.  YEAH!!!!

Now we have to start working on her manners. She is more aware of what we are requiring of her. Before there was no participation whatsoever, now she is actually put out by our request. By the look on her face, she is thinking okay, I’ll do it. VERY COOL!

Lizzy took a 2 hour nap and woke up at 5pm. Her mood is pretty good, just her screaming. AKA distress call. Hopefully it will end or slow up on Sat. after her Cuprum. I must confess, the screaming is the hardest for me to deal with.

Lizzy, Amelia and Willy 2005

As of 8pm all is well.

William just informed us that Lizzy can have his Scooby Doo Barbie Dolls.  These dolls are not easy to find either. Willy earned the 200.00 needed to purchase them. What a sacrifice. This act of generosity will hopefully make her evening. It made mine. What a sweet thing for her big bro to do. We are so very proud of him. It is amazing how wonderful Lizzy’s siblings are to her. She is very blessed and so are we.

If Todd and I could just get some sleep. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Sweet Dreams to All.

08 06 2010 and 08 07 2010

Hello everyone, it’s Amelia. Mom is under the weather, so I will be giving  you the highlights of yesterday and today.

Lizzy was pretty good yesterday and today. Yesterday she played outside with the sprinkler. After getting all wet and cold she decided to come in. She hit Hi-gee once because he was watching her and told her no, and she just wanted to see what she could get away with. Had beef and potatoes for dinner that Dad cooked, but she wasn’t very hungry. So, she excused herself and walked upstairs to be in her room. As the evening progressed she was happy and content.  She fell asleep at 10:45pm, but she woke up at like 2am. Dad went in to help her out. This went on ’till about 4am.

Today she woke up around 9am. We gave her Cuprum Met 30c.  We went out to play once again. I showed her how to use the watering can. She didn’t fully grasp it, but found it quite interesting. She also really likes these colored jacks we have and has a grand time watch them spin. So, Mom made these sentence strips that say: The (color) jack is spinning, so that Lizzy can start putting nouns and verbs together and reading simple, small sentences. She made one for each of the 5 colors we have (pink, yellow, orange,  blue and green.)

Peanut butter sandwich with Lays chips and raw milk was for dinner. She played downstairs for a while, got her PJ’s on and is now upstairs in bed. Hopefully we ALL will have a pleasant night. I hope you do too.

Very Sweet Dreams to you.

08 05 2010 Peace Reigns Once Again

Lizzy slept through the night and woke up in a good mood. She has been playing inside and watching Blue’s Clues. It is raining again.

Blue's Clues

William has been playing with Matthew and Lizzy and they are looking for “Clues” all over the house. Willy is excellent at teaching and playing. He thinks of every detail.  It is so cute.

Willy draws out blue paw prints for Matthew and Lizzy to find. Those lead to the clues which lead to the puzzle being solved. So today I found the paw print and printed out some for Willy to use.

How true it is. We are always looking for clues around this house. Clues to unlock the Lizzy mystery and the mystery of ourselves. It is amazing.

Mattie 2010 B

Matthew is relentless about finding clues. He combs the entire upstairs, the playroom, downstairs and living room. He loves it.  Thanks Willy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lizzy has been in a very good mood all day. As you can see she is very content. She is watching Curious George which is one of her favorites.

The music for the movie was done by Jack Johnson. We have the soundtrack and she loves it. Especially Upside Down. It is Lizzy’s and her cousin Natalie’s favorite.

These two ladies have not met yet but they have so much in common. They have changed lives on a very profound level. They touch lives with all that they do. What different people we would be if we did not know these two.

Thank you God for bringing them into our lives!

Natalie At Pajaro Dunes 2

Every time I hear the song Upside Down I start crying.  It is the two lines “Please don’t go away” that do it. I never want her to be where she was 3 years ago. Completely away from us and everything.

The song Upside Down and Curious George remind me of Lizzy. She is like George and has so much to learn, trying  to adapt to a foreign enviroment that does not make sense to her. Just like George.

We all feel like this from time to time, but it is more intense for her. I can only imagine how she feels. I pray that we will have the ability to see what we need to see to help her. And that God leads us to the right teachers and therapies that will work for her. One day at  time Amy, one day at a time.

Lizzy continued to have a good night. She was very engaging and happy. Thank you God!

Looks like sweet dreams tonight. Let’s hope.

“Upside Down”

Who’s to say
What’s impossible
Well they forgot
This world keeps spinning
And with each new day
I can feel a change in everything
And as the surface breaks reflections fade
But in some ways they remain the same
And as my mind begins to spread its wings
There’s no stopping curiosity

I want to turn the whole thing upside down
I’ll find the things they say just can’t be found
I’ll share this love I find with everyone
We’ll sing and dance to Mother Nature’s songs
I don’t want this feeling to go away

Who’s to say
I can’t do everything
Well I can try
And as I roll along I begin to find
Things aren’t always just what they seem

I want to turn the whole thing upside down
I’ll find the things they say just can’t be found
I’ll share this love I find with everyone
We’ll sing and dance to Mother Nature’s songs
This world keeps spinning and there’s no time to waste
Well it all keeps spinning spinning round and round and

Upside down
Who’s to say what’s impossible and can’t be found
I don’t want this feeling to go away

Please don’t go away
Please don’t go away
